Ele marcou, contra o Peru, o primeiro gol do Estádio Centenário e ainda fez o quarto – e último – do Uruguai na final contra a Argentina.

Curiosities of the World Cup in 2010 - Curiosidades da Copa do Mundo em 2010

    * It is the first global headquarters in Africa.
    * The 2010 World Cup in South Africa will have all the world champions, something that has not happened in the German edition. Thus, five-times champions Brazil, Italy tetracampeã, three-time champions Germany, twice champions Argentina and Uruguay, plus the champions France and England will participate in this tournament. The last time this occurred was in 2002 when all of a World Cup winners were present. Beyond 2010 and 2002 in the 1990, 1986, 1970, 1966, 1962, 1954 and 1950 all the then world champions were present. The counterpoint is the 1958 World Cup in Sweden when only West Germany (world champion of the time) was present, against the absence of Uruguay and Italy and World Cup in 1930 and 1934 world champions without gifts.
    * For the first time in the tournament, South Korea and North Korea will compete simultaneously. The only time that North Korea competed in 1966, South Korea was not present.
    * For the first time two teams from the Oceania World Cup play in the same is the case of Australia (played by the vacancy Asia) and New Zealand.
    * Selections from Honduras and New Zealand had played the World Cup in 1982 and returned, curiously, for the World Cup in 2010, after being out of the great festival of football for long 28 years.
    * Portugal and Germany (respectively 4 and 3 seats in the 2006 World Cup) to be classified broke a taboo that had lasted since 1986: all selection Europe which is in 3rd or 4th place in the world earlier dropped out of the Cup next. It happened with France 3 in 1986, England in 1990, 4, Sweden 3 in 1994, Holland 4 Turkey in 1998 and 3rd in 2002.
    * First World Cup to have six teams in the African continent.
    * For the first time since its debut in the World Cup, Saudi Arabia is a world outside.

    * É o primeiro mundial sediado no continente africano.
